The Yobo Spirit House Announces the Addition of Mia Fong as a Social Media Manager
In getting to know Mia better, we asked her a few questions:
What is your favorite book?
The Time - Night by Ludmilla Petrushevskaya or Wild Meat and the Bully Burgers by Lois-Ann Yamanaka.
What is your all-time favorite restaurant?
In Portland: Luce, Nong’s, St. Jack
In L.A.: Brothers Cousins (technically a food cart)
What is your current favorite LA restaurant?
It’s Dan Sung Sa in Koreatown at the moment – I went for a friend’s birthday recently and we feasted.
What are your favorite bars in the city?
Thai Angel in L.A., Carina Lounge in Portland
What kind of music did you listen to growing up?
Everyone in my family is a voracious music consumer so I want to say almost everything… but Spice Girls, The 1975, and Jimmy Eat World are artists that come to mind. My mom also played a lot of Michelle Branch, Sade, Avril Lavigne, and Kanye West CDs in the car, so that definitely had an impact on me as well.
What is your go-to way to wind down at the end of the day?
Going on evening walks or putting on a movie! I've been watching a lot of documentaries lately, and I highly recommend Betrand Norman's Ballerina.
What would you be doing if you weren’t a part of the Yobo family?
Traveling (and job-hunting), like many other recent graduates.
Why did you join Yobo? And why now?
I’ve just completed university and wanted to focus on diving into the working world. I was lucky enough to have my mentor mention an opening at Yobo Spirits and I immediately applied. I’ve had previous experience with Social Media Marketing and the prospect of working at Yobo excited me, especially because my father works in the spirits industry and it feels like I'm following in his path.
What is your go-to cocktail?
A daiquiri - my sisters tease me about this.
Do you have any unexpected or unusual hobbies?
Yes! I have definitely surprised my friends (and myself) by becoming a pretty ferocious sports fan. I follow the NHL and F1 quite rigorously and am currently getting into baseball.
What’s your go-to karaoke song?
Girls & Boys by Blur or Vroom Vroom by Charli xcx
