The California Law Behind the Opportunity

Effective January 1, 2025, California Business and Professions Code §23398.5, amended by AB 2069, authorizes domestically produced soju and shochu derived from agricultural products and containing no more than 24% alcohol by volume to be sold under on-sale licenses that authorize wine sales.

For California accounts with an on-sale beer and wine license, this opens the door to serving qualifying domestic soju—including Yobo Soju Luxe at 23% ABV and KTOWN Soju at 18% ABV.
